Extra Pixels, Hold The SuperFish
Lenovo offers a 14″ 2800×1800, 90Hz OLED IPS touchscreen on their new Yoga 9i, powered by the Intel Iris Xe on the Core i7-1260P processor found inside and according to Ars Technica it is gorgeous. There are even rumours of a 3840×2400 OLED variant arriving in the not too distant future. They also didn’t skimp on the webcam, which is a 1080p, 5 MP, infrared and RGB hybrid and is located at the top of the Yoga 9i in the notch … because of course there is a notch.
The body and edges of the 2 in 1 are highly polished and the corners are rounded to make it more comfortable in tablet mode, and perhaps a little more slippery. The power button also happens to be on the side, which can be a problem when you are using it as a tablet. The spine has an interesting cover for the 360° hinge and the Yoga’s two tweeters, however the perforated aesthetic could also let dust in over time.
The performance is great overall, but some of the design choices definitely favour good looks over easy usage. The model Ars reviewed would set you back $1,730 but you can get it down much closer to $1000 if you sacrifice the OLED panel for a 1080p IPS display.
